How does period swimwear work in water?

Our period swimwear features a discreet, built-in absorbent gusset with three advanced layers:

  • Layer 1 (inner): Ultra-soft, breathable fabric that wicks moisture away from skin.

  • Layer 2 (middle): Highly absorbent and moisture-locking — holds up to 3 regular tampons' worth of flow.

  • Layer 3 (outer): Aquaphobic, water-repellent layer that prevents pool or ocean water from entering while guarding against leaks.

While submerged, natural water pressure helps balance internal and external pressure so menstrual flow doesn't freely release underwater — flow typically resumes once you exit the water. Our swimwear is a comfortable, non-invasive alternative to tampons or cups, and best suited for light to moderate flow days.

Can period swimwear be worn on heavy flow days?

Our swimwear is designed for light to medium flow, with most styles absorbing up to 30ml — a medium to heavy absorption capacity.

Our best-selling boyshort bottom offers the strongest protection and is especially suited for high-movement activities like surfing and beach volleyball. For extended time in the water or particularly heavy flow days, pairing with additional protection is recommended for extra peace of mind.

When is leak-proof underwear and swimwear most effective?

Underwear is most effective for everyday wear, overnight protection, spotting days, and the beginning or end of your cycle. It can be worn alone or as a backup to other products.

Swimwear is most effective for light to moderate flow when swimming or spending time by the pool or beach. For longer swims or heavier flow, additional menstrual protection is recommended.

Can period underwear be worn on heavy flow days?

Period underwear is ideal for light to moderate flow, including spotting days, the start or end of your cycle, and overnight use.

CARE & WASHING

How should I wash my swimwear and underwear?

  • Rinse first: After use, rinse in cold water running directly through the gusset until the water runs clear.
  • Machine wash: Delicate cycle at a maximum of 30°C. A mild detergent or fabric softener is fine.
  • Drying: Air drying is recommended to extend garment life. Tumble drying is possible and won't compromise protective functionality, but air drying is preferred.
